This past Friday, over 80 St. Olaf students showed to sample delicious local fall foods and voted to determine the winners of the Iron Chef: St. Olaf competition. The audience vote was taken into account, as well as the voice of celebrity judges Randy Clay, the 2013 King of the Hill, Tha, and Ole the Lion. Here are the final winning teams:
1st place: Cinnamon squash pancakes with apple syrup
2nd place: Penne pasta with butternut squash and goat cheese, Apple Cheesecake Torte
3rd place: Carribean Indian Squash, Apple Stuffed Chicken

This SustainAbilities event really focused on having a fun approach to celebrating and learning how to cook with local ingredients that are readily available in the autumn: Butternut squash donated generously by Open Hands Farm, and fresh apples from Fireside Orchard. We really appreciated the turnout, and loved contributions made by all of the chefs!
